7 days ago by mindfulrob Meditation enables us to see the seed of enlightenment in every single emotion or thought so that any concept can bring awareness of our fundamental ground. When the mind rests in awareness, there is no ground for the creation of karma, and nothing causes the mind to shift into in awareness or solidifying concepts. The ground and path of our practice are completely based on the exhaustion of ignorance and false views Khandro Rinpoche  #dharma   #dzogchen   #theseedofenlightenment   #meditation   #mindfulness   #yoga   #theexhaustionofignorance   #thevalleyretreat   #truro   #cornwall

  • No matter how powerful no matter how convincing the self
6 days ago by mindfulrob No matter how powerful, no matter how convincing the self and our ego clinging is a delusion. So we look. We look again. We practice. We meditate and slowly but surely it begins to fall apart. If it were as real and as solid as we perceived it to be then this practice would not alter anything. It would be of no use but this is not the case. The evidence is clear. We are extremely fortunate to be born in a time and place where we can meet authentic Dharma teachers who have direct experience of awakening from the
  • Our attachment to our suffering is in itself the doorway
3 days ago by mindfulrob Our attachment to our suffering is in itself the doorway to our freedom. The self, in a state of depression for example, will project the inevitable permanence of its situation. But with simple, even partial, awareness we can see that there are variations in mood no matter how subtle. Therefore and very quickly the delusion of us being a thing can be shattered by the truth of change. There is no thing that remains the same. We just need to suspend our belief, even for the briefest of moments, to allow the possibility that things are not as they seem.

5 days ago by mindfulrob If change is the very nature of all inner and outer phenomena, there is no basis for any confidence in a solid self and no need for any logic to defend of protect it. Why then would we generate anger, for example? Anger is generated solely to protect a self that has to retain its identity and defend its ground - a self that is not really there. Contemplating our various experiences of impermanence, we can understand how unnecessary and useless it is to grasp at a self - at which point genuine selflessness arises Khandro Rinpoche  #dharma   #dzogchen   #impermanence

6 days ago by mindfulrob Right now, we are like a movie character you see up on the screen in handcuffs, with tape over his mouth and rope bound around his body. The moment of recognising mind nature is like the moment this character becomes untied, completely unfettered. The sudden disappearance of these gives a feeling of deep release. In our case it is not physical release, like the disappearance of all those ropes, handcuffs, and tape. Rather it is a mental release. The knots of conceptual attitude are untied, released, set free, so that our state of mind feels completely unrestrained; it opens up
  • Ignorance is not bliss Ignorance is suffering With our practice
2 days ago by mindfulrob Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is suffering. With our practice we see that mind is everything. That our mind is the root of suffering. That our mind is the path to freedom. The key question is are we ready to let go of ignorance. When we have seen the truth the key test of our motivation is whether we choose to accept or reject it. There is always choice  #dharma   #dzogchen   #theswordofwisdom   #meditation   #mindfulness   #yoga   #thevalleyretreat   #truro   #cornwall

3 days ago by mindfulrob The only way to free yourself from ignorance is the path of awareness. Training in awareness begins with you. It would be difficult to go outside of yourself to get this message - or to change the mind of anyone else. You are the one endowed with the qualities, teachings, and practices; you are the one with the genuine desire and ability to bring this to fruition. Therefore, you need to be the first one to transcend ignorance. Then and only then can you benefit others. This is the reason we contemplate impermanence Khandro Rinpoche  #dharma   #dzogchen   #thepathofawareness   #impermanence   #meditation
